 About the Opportunity

Victoria Daly Regional Council is now looking for a full-time Council Services Manager to join their team in Timber Creek, NT. You will lead a dedicated team of local government service providers, overseeing several functions such as Administration, Parks and Gardens, Waste Management, and Sport and Recreation. 

This role is highly varied, and each day will look different. You will spend some of your time in our Timber Creek offices taking meetings with community members, and some of your time visiting services in town or visiting surrounding communities. 

Core duties:

  • Manage staff to ensure programs and services are delivered on time and within budget;
  • Deliver local government services, programs, and services with the operations team; 
  • Seek estimates, quotes, tenders, and supervise works with the assistance of the Technical Sales staff;
  • Be responsible for a safe working environment and ensure Work Health & Safety regulations are adhered to and all resources are effectively deployed; and
  • Manage all council assets in the community including plant, equipment, buildings, and vehicles, ensuring transport routes and airstrips are operational.

About You

To be successful as Timber Creek's new Council Services Manager you will have a relevant Management qualification. You will also have demonstrable skills and experience leading several departments, developing staff from a range of skill levels and diverse cultural backgrounds. 

Experience working in a remote setting is desired, enabling you to work effectively within indigenous communities and understand the unique challenges of remote Australia.

You will need to be a strong communicator, with well-developed interpersonal skills and the ability to connect with staff and community members effectively. 

You will also need strategic decision-making skills, and the ability to be analytical and innovative in your approach to solving complex problems. 

Previous experience with and an understanding of business and financial planning principles will be essential to manage council budgets and assets effectively. 

Most importantly, you will be grounded, approachable, and excited about continuously improving the services of a friendly and welcoming community.

Please Note: A current Driver's Licence, current Working with Children's card, and a criminal history check will be required prior to commencing in this role.
