The RFNSW:

- Provides flexible services in response to the identified needs of people with mental illness.

- Promotes positive attitudes towards people with a mental illness in the community and to challenge and overcome prejudice and stigma.
- Lobbies for increased resources to improve services for people with a mental illness.
About the Opportunity
The Richmond Fellowship of NSW (RFNSW) has exciting opportunities for part-time and casual Community Mental Health Rehabilitation Workers to join their dynamic team at the Charmian Clift Cottages (Women's and Children Program) working from Blacktown.
The Cottages offer stable supported accommodation for women living with mental illness and their dependent children.
Through skill development, community access, community participation, and promoting opportunities for people with disabilities, you will enhance opportunities for independent living by utilising positive parenting thus optimising family life. The care and support you will provide are tailored to meet the varied needs of the individual families.
Successful applicants will have a Certificate IV in Mental Health Work (Non-clinical), or an approved tertiary equivalent in the areas of Community Work, Mental Health, Welfare, Children's Services, Positive Parenting or Child Protection. It is also mandatory that you possess a current unrestricted NSW driver's licence.
You will have at least 12 months relevant work experience and be able to show a sound knowledge of mental health service delivery practices.
Importantly, you will be a caring and understanding individual, with strong written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills, as well as effective organisational skills, good problem solving skills and the ability to work in challenging situations. You will also be able to demonstrate a practical and optimistic approach, ability to work effectively within a team environment as well as independently, and have good computer skills.
An enthusiasm for the industry, together with a positive attitude and a genuine desire to help others and improve the community is essential!
