About the Location

Hervey Bay has often been called the jewel in Queensland's crown. It is also referred to as the Whale Watch Capital of the World. A scenic 3 ½ hours drive north of Brisbane and only 45 minutes by air from Brisbane, Hervey Bay is an easily accessible destination. It has a population of approximately 53,000 residents.

About the Opportunity

Integrated Family and Youth Services has an exciting opportunity for a Residential Care Coordinator to join their team at Hervey Bay.

In this role, you will provide quality residential care, casework services and life-skill support to young people in care, aged from 12 to 17 years of age.

The Coordinator is required to participate in a rotational on-call roster and may be required to fill rostered shifts within the program when necessary.

Some of your specific responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the delivery of quality services to clients, using client-centred and strengths-based practices;
  • Monitoring and supporting day-to-day operational functions to ensure a safe, secure and young people-friendly environment;
  • In consultation with the Team Leader/Manager, coordinating and supporting the work activities of paid and unpaid staff to achieve program outcomes and service standards; and
  • Developing or facilitating programs and activities that meet the needs of young people on an individual and group basis.

To be successful in this role, you will require a demonstrated knowledge of procedure and policy related to the work performed by IFYS, along with the proven ability to support young people to achieve agreed goals.

You will also have outstanding time management, planning and organisational skills, as well as a high level of personal integrity with the ability to maintain professional and personal boundaries.

A relevant degree in social sciences, psychology, social work, welfare, community or youth work would be ideal, but is not essential.

However, you will require a current First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one), as well as a current Driver's Licence and a Working with Children Blue Card. In addition, you must be willing to undergo a full criminal history background check.

The successful applicant will be rewarded with an attractive training package to accompany their remuneration, which is in line with the Social and Community Services Award (Qld), Level 4, commensurate with experience and qualifications. In addition, salary sacrificing of up to 30% is available for permanent positions.

IFYS is committed to staff development and provides full training in its Therapeutic Crisis Intervention framework, and up to $300 per annum professional development/training grants.
