About Anam Cara

Anam Cara is part of Centacare Disability Services. Anam Cara was established in response to institutional reform by the Queensland Government in the area of mental health. Anam Cara offers a variety of community based mental health programs including short and long term accommodation support, transitional housing and outreach support.

Anam Cara provides psychosocial support services to people with a mental illness to live a lifestyle of their choice.

This occurs through:

  • Assisting people to maintain a state of mental wellbeing;
  • Promoting positive attitudes in the community towards people with a mental illness;
  • Collaborating with individuals around their support needs as determined by the individual;
  • Supporting people to enhance skills and take greater responsibility for their lives;
  • Encouraging participation in society through lifestyle support in their local communities;
  • Assisting people to reach their goals and aspirations; and
  • Providing flexible services around peoples needs.
Anam Cara is based at Marooka but provides services to people living across Brisbane, Caboolture and also in the Ipswich, Logan and Redcliffe regions. Anam Cara delivers a number of programs including individual support under Project 300, Adult Lifestyle and Housing and Support Packages as well as a Transitional Housing Program.

About the Role

Anam Cara has a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Manager to join their dynamic and innovative Disability Services team based at Moorooka in Brisbane.This position is being offered on a 12 month contract for maternity leave.

Your role will focus on managing the daily operations and programs of the service within a framework of Centacare's Mission, Vision and Values.

In achieving this, some of your duties will include:

  • Managing human and financial resources to ensure quality service delivery;
  • Managing individualised and quality services to clients;
  • Providing leadership for the direction, development and review of service activities;
  • Adhering to industry regulations, practices and legislation including Mental Health Act guidelines;
  • Contributing to a continuous quality improvement approach to the provision of services; and
  • Networking with other agencies and providers.

The successful candidate will work in a team environment and will be guided, supported and given the necessary tools to achieve results that are both personally and financially rewarding.

Anam Cara is looking for a dedicated individual who is genuinely committed to enhancing the quality of life for people with a psychiatric illness.

The ideal candidate will be a caring individual with a non-judgemental attitude, and an understanding of the operational and financial requirements of community/mental health services.

You will need:

  • a current Senior First Aid Certificate (or willingness to obtain one within 3 months);
  • a current driver's licence; and
  • a current Disability Services Positive Notice (or be willing to obtain one before commencing employment).

Tertiary qualifications in a relevant field and substantial experience would be very highly regarded. Candidates with extensive experience in working with people with a psychiatric illness in a leadership capacity will also be considered.
